  • Design an online gallery or journal that highlights the work of under-represented practitioners or whose work advances one or more of the UN Global Goals. The platform should be meant to showcase and highlight their work.

  • The field of nature photography is currently dominated by males. To combat this, Her Lens was created to showcase and celebrate the work of women in nature photography. In addition, the online gallery puts emphasis on women who are fighting for environmental justice—UN Global Goal 15: Life on Land. Rather than taking away from the beauty of the photos, the visual system is meant to highlight the photography. In particular, the typographical choices are meant to blend feminine power and the dangers of this profession.

  • Explore and experiment with typographic form in a “dreamy state” and take ideas and techniques from various explorations. Then choose a poster to redesign into a set of three versions. Be able to defend the work by articulating and envisioning an internal logic, narrative, strategy, process, and explanation.

  • There are many kinds of dreams a person may have—from daydreams, nightmares, to even falling into the clutches of sleep paralysis. This project enabled me to recall, explore, and visualize fragments of past dreams. Using various mediums, such as clear glue, holographic vinyl, glass, water and water bottles, my type explorations led me to creating a set of posters for the Japanese horror film, Dark Water.

  • Find a locally produced sign and redesign it into a full visual identity system. The overall concept and design should communicate the message and intent the poster wants to convey. The finished deliverables include a narrative (multi-page brochure), a series of posters, and a website.

  • A typical trip to a local Korean Supermarket became a fruitful one. Right before you walk inside, you immediately notice the brick walls of the market are covered with handwritten signs and printed advertisements—from piano classes, small moving businesses, to even painters. One flyer by VWC Muay Thai and Fitness stood out from the rest. What seemingly seemed like only five pieces of information turned out to be at least twelve intended messages.

  • Identify a problem in the world that you’d like to see change. Design a brand that can support or solve the problem. Create three deliverables that best represents the brand.

  • One day my younger brother asked me if he should get a credit card. I asked him if he knew about credit card debt to which he replied “no.” For the benefit of future generations, there is a need for financial literacy especially among young adults. Our current education doesn’t provide courses that teach generations on how to properly save and spend, but instead it is usually taught in passing by our own parents or through actively searching on the Internet. The brand, Liberté, will help minimize the gap between young adults and financial literacy through an engaging visual system.

  • Select a brand and redesign their annual report that still reflects the brand’s visual language.

  • The LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Social and Environmental Report for 2020 illustrated their initiatives to support sustainable growth. Aligning with that message and the brand’s distinct visual language, our approach honed in on bringing organic shapes and graphic elements. The purpose was to visually reflect their beliefs of respecting our environment and the people that inhabit it.

  • Identify an existing or hypothetical design conference and create a visual system that showcases a conceptual and typographic approach.

  • Design Matters is a digital design conference based in Copenhagen. For their 2021 event, it was held in Japan. Our conceptual and visual approach was influenced from both Scandinavian and Japanese design. This resulted in a harmonious blend of minimalism, geometric shapes, and functionality.

  • Select, refresh and develop a visual identity system for a dead, dying, or defunct brand aligned with the brand’s soul. Conduct research of the brand’s history and values. Based on the new guidelines, develop a set of business opportunities for the brand to thrive beyond its original industry.

  • Researching and understanding the National Park Service’s history was the foundation for the conceptual and visual design decisions. It is evident that the rebrand should reflect the initial intentions and values of the service. The final deliverables resulted in a series of printed guidelines: The Visual Strategy Guide, The Visual Development Guide, and The Visual Standards Guide. Lastly, a website showcasing an overview of the project will accompany the books.
